- 5 years experience with McKinsey, managing teams in strategy development, operations performance improvement and organisational change
- Engineering degree from Cambridge University, SMF sponsored MBA from INSEAD, 1988, speaks 4 languages
- Former president of Sainsbury Management Fellows Society
- Member of DTI ‘Action for Engineering’ Taskforce on Competitiveness
