Lee Cowles
After an early career in the Royal Navy, followed by six years in the motor industry, Lee spent 10 months seconded to the Cabinet to work on a workforce development project. He then project managed a signifcant software project before joining Betfair, one of the UK's biggest online success stories. He's been there for 7 years and is surrently managing the UK business, over 50% of Betfair's revenue.
- Lee was the first SMF to work in Central Government, where he worked on a project looking at workforce skills in the UK
- Lee believes that an MBA is an excellent compliment to an engineering background, which can lead an engineer into sectors otherwise barred to them
- The SMF award allowed Lee to study full-time, which he believes made a huge difference to the quality of learning
- He has since gained significant e-commerce and technology experience, which would not have been possible without the MBA
