Mark Oliver
An engineer who thrives on leading change and making a difference to both companies and industries, Mark is currently leading the adoption of online project collaboration across the UK construction industry.
- Mark is the UK Managing Director of BuildOnline, the leading provider of online project collaboration and other e commerce solutions to the European Construction Industry
- BuildOnline is one UK's the few dotcom success stories providing its technology to major construction companies like Balfour Beatty, Ballast and Kier and engineering clients like Thames Water, Transco and Metronet for the London Underground
- Prior to BuildOnline Mark led company turnarounds as the Managing Director of Yale Security Products Far East Region and of BSS, a £200m leading distributor of Building Services Products where he was a Plc main board director
- Mark developed his change management and strategic skills as a manager at consultants McKinsey & Co in the early 90s following his MBA at INSEAD
- He has a First Class Honours in Civil Engineering and practiced as a civil engineer with the Kier Group and Anglo American. Mark also served as a Captain with the Royal Engineers in the Falklands
- Mark has spent half of his life outside of the UK and believes in learning from other cultures and industries. He grew up in Switzerland, has had two overseas postings to the Far East
- Mark was a co-founder of the Sainsbury Management Fellows' Society in 1992 and the served as its Treasurer in 1993
- Mark was a keen sportsman before starting a family; he won the UK Universities Ski Championships, represented the Army in the Fastnet Yacht Race and now tries to keep fit by rollerblading!
