Imoni Akpofure

Ms. Imoni Akpofure is based in Paris as the Special Representative, Europe, for the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. She is responsible for managing IFC's relationships with European shareholders and donors, developing new business and managing relations with European companies, building partnerships with stakeholders in Europe, and coordinating IFC's crisis response engagement within Europe.

 

Previously within IFC, she served in various capacities including: Country Manager based in Accra, Ghana, with responsibility for the coordination of IFC's strategy and business in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Niger, Sierra Leone and Togo; Manager of the Market Development Group in the Environment and Social Development Department; and Manager in IFC’s Global Manufacturing and Services Department. She was also Country Manager in IFC’s regional office based in Johannesburg, South Africa and served as IFC’s Regional Representative based in Harare, Zimbabwe, with specific responsibility for Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

 

External to IFC, Ms. Akpofure is a Trustee on the Ghana-based Newmont Ahafo Development Foundation and a faculty member of the Prince of Wales Business and Enviroment Program within the UK University of Cambridge's Program for Industry. She was until recently a Trustee on the UNDP's African Training and Management Services (ATMS) Foundation.

Before joining the IFC, Ms. Akpofure practiced as a chartered civil engineer in the UK with Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick Consulting Engineers and Southern Water PLC. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College, London, a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Newcastle University, UK, and an MBA from INSEAD, France.
