David Crosbie
Young, internet entrepreneur whose company, launched in 1998, now employs 300 people across four continents. Concerned with the risk-averse business culture in the UK, David looked overseas for funding and he fears that many innovations are lost overseas to this problem. David firmly believes however, that the internet will provide the focus for a resurgence in engineering careers and that universities should capitalise on the new, exciting career prospects to entice young people onto engineering courses
- David has several hi-tech projects on the go, including: Adero which provides global connectivity between servers on the internet; Sitara Networks which is venture capital backed and aims to improve the speed, reliability and responsiveness of the internet; and his latest project which brings Blue-tooth technology into mainstream consumer use
- David has a degree in Engineering from Oxford University and took his SMF sponsored MBA at INSEAD which he believes enabled him to view business opportunities from a global perspective – he currently employs 300 people in the USA, UK, Australia and Hong Kong
- Following his year at business school, David spent four years in telecoms in Hong Kong, China, the UK and mainland Europe
- David has used the SMF network in all his business ventures and is currently conducting market research amongst members to define his approach to the Blue-tooth market
